If these were dried would they harden? I don't think they will but I thought it would make a neat walking stick if I could keep them braided.

Mark, I've found similar shapes in the ivy that is common here in CA landscaping. The ivy does not dry stiff enough for canes or walking sticks. Ron

Don't think it'll work, but where this was there probably is a sapling that has the spiral shape from vine groving on it. These work great for walking sticks.

It looks like a Wisteria Vine.
Cut it and let it dry.
It will most likely get loose and it dries.
Maybe then you could tie it with homemade cordage to hold it together.

How about using some of that wood hardener I read about on here every so often. I think Minwax makes it. Just a thought. dp

I think u could pin them together or dowel them. Bind them tight. Cut them. Seal them. Once dried put in small dowels and glue. In bind and it should be a lot more rigid if dowels are well placed

I'm not sure what kind of vine it is. I'm in Northwest Alabama. My plan is to wrap it tight in electrical tape on the ends to hold it together and sit it in my shop for a while. If it works, great and if not, fireplace.
