HICKORY #4
« on: February 08, 2014, 06:46:57 pm »
Just wanted to share my fourth attempt. This one finished out at 52#@28" 63"ntn. This blank was one I goofed up the handle on with the bandsaw so I used black walnut for the handle and tips. Threw some skins on to dress it up. This bow took some set. I think it would have been better a couple of inches longer, but it shoots nice. Handle is hemp. Thanks for looking.

That's a pretty darn nice bow for only your fourth try.

YEAH!  What he said.
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

Thanks for the comments, guys. I think I'm ready to tackle the "king" of the woods. Osage, that is. I'm headed to Kansas in the spring for some hunting and i'm bringing my saw with me. Hopefully I can find a few straight logs to cut.

Yep. I realized I'm not good enough with a bandsaw to try to cut out my handles like Gary Davis.

How do you mess up on a bandsaw...I've never done that. That is a great looking bow.
