Great post!  I think I enjoy seeing people creating bows from woods not well known as much as any other thing.  That looks like great wood.  Congratulations on it!

Wow, thanks a lot! That means a lot coming from you guys.
Kanuka is a fairly common tree here, it acts as a regenerating parent tree for regrow forest and tends to favor the drier east coast. Theres a 135 lb  bow built out of kanuka by a guy from the nz war bow society and it sounds like it's holding it's own amongst his yew bows.
The kiwi was draw on with sharpie pen.
I'm working with a few other native woods I'm hoping to show you guys in the future.

Nicely done, like the looks of that wood and the bow you made of it. Seems like it may have been a tricky stave to negotiate but you did an awesome job turning it into a bow.
