« on: January 28, 2014, 02:02:40 pm »
It's -11 here so I thought I might try a fluted point today seeing as I can't mow the lawn :o The first picture is the first side an went halfway but ran out the side, I think I didn't have it nice an straight, the second side went nice an wide an straight but hinged out just under the half way mark. this is a 4" pc of dacite. I'm happy at least it stayed in one pc. thanks for looking. Bob

That looks pretty good to me. Fluting is a risky proposition in my hands, but you did it just fine. I don't have any real clue what makes a flute run to one side or another but you did both sides and on Dacite!

Nice double barrel.
I Like Dacite. I made one similar, just don't have a pic with me.
If it don't hinge on termination it's not Clovis in my opinion. Many will differ lol.
Where do you get your Dacite Bob?
thanks Zuma

Lol I have been knapping some of Craigs obsidian I got from Dave Crawford back  around 98.
I was hoping you knew the quarry location. I got a big hunk from a neat
guy and his wife that search and sell lithics.
Can't remember his name. I was a knapping Yankee fool with Yellow Fawn
and friends east of Monroe LA
I have no pics of this blade after I did  a double flute but will post them when I get back home.
It's the one on the left in the poor photo. They are all dacite.
