An alcoholic co-worker/friend asked me when I had just I stopped drinking "what do you do for fun if you aren't drinking", I replied,"the same things you do now, you just don't have a drink in your hand". He never could grasp the concept and always relapsed. I saw him recently a a funeral for another alcoholic friend who died of cirrhosis of the liver. I hadn't seen him in 10 or 12 years, he smelled like alcohol and looked like death warmed over. He has probably killed himself by drinking just like the friend the funeral was for.

Six years is a mighty good start, congratulations!

I just completed my 26th year of sobriety.
