JW, I just opened the new issue and went straight to the Hat artical you mentioned.  I've had a hat like that for years. Used to have a girl that was into textiles. She even made me a tuk(?), french fur traders hat) from goat hair from the farm I worked on and from my dog.  She made these felt hats too. They are knit alpaca and are as big as a lamp shade when first knit and reminded me of Mush Mouth's hat from Fat Albert, then they are felted in the sink and shrink up to a size to fit.  I wear mine all the time in the cold. I just flip the brim on mine and it stays up, no pin or anything.  I have a few pics to post, and the day off tomorrow so I'll try to post a pic of the two hats she made me.  I could probably get you one if your really interested.  I'll do my best to post pix tomorrow morn.

Have a gooder, dpg

Here's a pic of my alpaca wool hat.  These babies may look a little old ladyish, but they are warm and stay pretty dry too.  If you are too concerned about what you look like, you may not want to wear on of these.  JSO was not kidding when he said you get funny looks. I wore mine to town today. Couldn't find my goat/dog hair tuk, but that's not what this thread is a bout is it.  Here ya go, dp

The word you are looking for is tocque, pronounced "tOOk", rhymes with ook.

Ok, I'll stop flailing the vacuum joke.

Thank you, on behalf of everyone on the website.  Your jokes perform much like the vacuum.... >:D

Ow!  I felt that hit the skin!

Man, you are saucy on this thread.  I was tryin to do you a favor, thought you might want one of them there old lady hats. We have a couple of knitting stores here in Bton that sell patterns, wool, knitting needles and hats. I'm pretty close w/ the owner of one of them and my ex is still a friend too; who lives in Stratford, ON. Thought if you wanted one I could help ya out.  If you're gonna jab at me with your sharp wit....well...I'll probably still help ya out.  ::) That's how I roll w/ folks I like.

I come from North Dakota originally...supposed to be a Canadian Province, but got kicked out for bad weather and a penchant for eating lutefisk, I guess.  I have froze my head enough times to have no care about style in headware as long as it is WARM!

You can't insult, me Leroy.   >:D

I hope this guy has more articles in the magazine, he writes well and his sense of humor leaves me wanting more.

I just kinda thought maybe he was one of us on the forum and I could smoke him out with this thread.
