Been out for a while due to my crazy life and some "domestic" issues. Shor have missed it. I ain't even done any REAL bow work in months
Anyhow, this one is a rework. She started out as a 66"ish 37#@29" when i first made her in 2012. I handed her over to her owner whilst i workd on a heavier bow to replace her. I did that and got'r back and she's been sitting around waiting on me to get to her. Finally sawed off both ends and redid the nocks with osage and cow horn. I left the original finish intact on the rest of the bow (poly and all) and just worked the tips. Feather sanded the old finish to bare wood transition, re-stained the wood near the tips, and applied poly over the whole bow so i wouldn't have any lines. Worked like a charm. Before the finish work i stuck her on the tree and tiller was still just fine and dandy
.
She has some character... a pretty good knot in the lower limb, natural deflex from the grip in upper and lower limbs (more on the lower, not from tiller). She also had a bit of twist and bent to the left quite a bit. I straightened her much as i dared but she still ended up with the string tracking right through the arrow rest, so she's kinda center shot
. She shoots like a dream, and is REAL fast (i know, typical "yeah right", but really...she is
). I credit the narrow limbs (just under 1.5 inches) and heat-tempered belly for her speed. Even though she's only 42#, I'd have no problem taking her deer hunting! I didn't get pics of her from her first run, so this is her debut. Nuff jabber, take a looksee! Hope you like!
Specs:
Cedar Elm 63-3/4" ntn
1-3/8" wide parallel limbs
42#@28"
She has BEAUTIFUL GRAIN patterns on the belly:
She was too thin at the handle. I found a cut off from when i was reducing the limb sections and glued it on, blended very nicely!!!!
AND the FD!
