I bought 60 water buffalo horns recently, about 6" - 8" long. I guess they were freshly cut. A week or two after I bought them, they all started to crack, or I guess "check" around the bases of the horn. All of them. So I freaked out a bit, cost me about 120 dollars for all of them. I contacted highland horn (not where bought them from) and asked them about it, they said to dip the ends in boiling cabinet wax and forget about them for a year, and after that they will be good to go. Anybody have experience with anything like this? I didn't know you had to season horn like you season wood!!!
