Courtesy of "From file to knife"

A friend and I used KHalverson's build along and made a couple of knives together. He did the shaping and metal work, and I did the handles and finish work. The blades are about 1/4" thick and the handles are bloodwood and yellowheart, with 1/8" brass pins.






These were made from pretty big files, so they are very heavy. Do you thin the files down a bit when you make them? Thanks for the build along it was very useful!

LOL, thanks. Because they are just plain steel how should I care for them? Just a bit of something like gun oil?

looks real good from here.
i rarely use files much over 1/8 thick for stock removal knives
unless im building a big knife.
