Flint trade, point

This is stuff that I received from Cowboy during the December flint trade.  I would have to say that his rock sure does knap easier than my stone.  This was a large flake and you can see some of the flakes surface in the middle on both sides.  I have been watching Patrick (AllergicHobbit) on youtube and I am really learning about thinning. While I was pressure flaking this I sent a flake deep in my finger.  I didn't even know that it was in there for at least 20Hrs.  It felt good getting that out.  I even had to clean the blood off the point to take pics, Cool!  Needles to say Im having fun learning this new art form.  Any body got good resources about finishing the edges?  i want to make them straight and sharp. Ouch!  Flakes like that don't stay buried that long around me.  I dig those suckers out with great speed and enthusiasm.  It hurts just looking at that.   :o

Nice point, BTW.  As for at the edges, the best you can hope for is wavy and spikey.  If you can get the waviness and the little spikes REALLY small, it will be as sharp as it can get.   :)

Jackcrafty I relay appreciate the helpful videos on YouTube.  About the flake, I didn't know it was in there. It was buried deep.

Glad you like the videos.

We all had a hard time with edgework, nasty cuts, and notching, so don't worry.  You look like you've got the hang of it.   :)
