Thanks Bub, me neither but the hard part is making the template or the first so easy enough to knock up another which I will be doing soon. Will probably end up with a keenan style arrow slip too. Only laced on too so easy to change.

Osage is getting a little bit more common up north.....I've got a few growing now  probably going to be 20 years or something before they are ready but I've got one that is really straight, lots of cuttings will be coming off that tree over the years!

wow, that's a beautiful bow! I really like the silk backing, a unique look.

Thanks. Whole bow needs a waxing to make the silk look a little more even finished. Tried a few different ways of applying silk and found this way to be the best, no wrinkled and sharp edges.

Nice bow mate! As this is your first Osage are you going to keep it? I would if I were you - yellow wood like that seems really rare over here

Think I will be keeping this one mate. Seems to be only for the choice few commercial bowyers over here supply wise. Or its far too expensive. We will keep looking to get something sorted for a bunch of us UK bowyers if something comes along

This looks like a sweet bow. I think she's dressed up just right. 
 The only osage bow I have had fret(except for one unseasoned osage bow) was backed with raw silk. I hope that was just a fluke.

Dont be putting the fret curse on me! Had enough of them to last me a lifetime.

Love it.  Really nice job on the tips.  Love the milky color in the one.  Really good job on the flawless transition on the overlays. I have a hard time with that.  Only an inch of set is impressive to me.  I know guys pull it off all the time but i havent managed to do it.  I think moisture has been the problem so i finally got me a moisture meter.

Thanks Steve. Would like to try skins one day but we only have a few poor snakes left and they are very rare. Infact its an aim of mine to see one of our Adders in the wild.

I invested in a RH meter in my workshop and in the room in the house I keep a few staves in. The main help is a good set of digital scales to measure weight loss.
I have come to find that most of my set comes from over stressing the wood early on as preached by all the folks here. Good design by eye early on seems to keep most of it at bay, another ten years I might be on the way to getting it right. Mikes idea to draw the profile of the bow on your bench or tiller board has helped no end.
