patch/striker knife

forged from a hay tedder tine. (thanks trapper rob)
the spine of the handle is hard enough to strike flint and spark.
blade was torch tempered and the spine is softer.
8- 1/4 o.a.l  4-1/4 blade
vinegar etched.

? for Kevin or anyone else who may know.  I bought a knife similar to the one you made and it broke in the handle.  I guess because the metal is very brittle.  Can that be welded back together?  It was a cheaper patch knife but it has a good edge and throws a good spark.

yes the metal is very hard and  a touch brittle.
I have my suspicions why yours may have broke.
I would like to look at the grain structure at the break .
I can weld that for ya also.
