Del's Bows on TV on YouTube now
« on: January 01, 2014, 06:05:16 am »
For those who missed Tudor Monastery Farm Christmas Special here's a link to it on iplayer.
I'm pleased with the footage, although it's a bit brief.
The archery action starts at 40:00 (yes it was a long wait  >:( )

Here's the YouTube link. Which should work everywhere.

The intro sequence must have been cobbled together at a later date, as they are not carrying my bows, but the real action is all with my stuff.
There is some good footage
Ruth Goodman was shooting a little 35# Hazel'bark on' primitive flatbow, and shooting as far as Peter Gin and Tom Pinfold! She had the lighter bow but was overdrawing to a full 32" whereas Peter and Tom strugged to reach full draw.

Just finished watching it Dell brilliant.
We are all now famous by association

I was wincing when the bow was held at full draw, I was shouting at the t.v., lose the thing man for heathens sake.

Well done Del.  Good stuff.  The little hazel bow looked really nice.  The whole segment looked fun, authentic and traditional (apart from the doublets and hose but they can't expect to make bespoke fitted garments for everyone involved I guess!  Must have been awkward as heck shooting in those!)  Then again, I imagine the majority of people attended Azincourt 2015 won't be in much better...

It only has to make one person wide eyed and excited and it's done a good thing for trad archery.

What a shame they chopped all the bow making out.  Still...

I guess TV documentaries really don't fanny about do they...

That was the last one, promise.

Arg, won't let anyone not in the uk watch. Still awesome though. Can't believe they had you go to all that trouble tillering bows in period tools and garb, etc, not to use the footage!

You guys in the US can watch it on alluc.to as a free streaming site.  It may not be particularly legal however so I can't recommend it at all...  ::)

The Christmas special with the archery isn't uploaded yet, but I'm sure it will be very soon.  All the other episodes are on there.

D'uh... so much for the internet... I just don't get what's the point of not allowing viewing from outside uk ???.
Someone has recorded it to CD for me, I'll see if I can post it on my blog eventually.

Yep, me neither.  Really want to see it though.  Congrats Del.  Not gonna do the "illegal" thingy with the NSA watching everything! :)

Hi Del,

I missed this message but ended up watching the programme anyway (because archery was mentioned). Then I saw a familiar face...

Nice looking bows.

Here are some stills..
Once you have seen these the NSA will get yo ass >:D
Here's the opening shot, I aim straight down the camera lens (for safety the arrow isn't nocked on the string, just held between my fingers alongside the string) and some others.

Nice one Del, just been watching it on the PVR....

It's quite interesting (or maybe not) watching me draw up at the camera frame at a time, I come up just over the target line and then drop solidly onto it.
Del
(It toolk 'em ages to get the arrow out of the camera lens >:D )
