Just wondering if anybody has used artificial sinew for making bow strings
I think they would look pretty nice on a bow
Thanks FB

I haven't John but some have, I think they would be very stretchy as artifical sinew is nylon.
I have a bunch of real sinew and want to try a real sinew string, problem is time, not enuf of it.

I make strings from it. It looks very nice on the bow. I havent shot it tons but it seems to be workin out nicely. One strand of artificail sinew is thick. i think it has about 4 little strands in one big one. It only takes a few strands.

Ya maybe another peice of the stuff and i have some old nylon casting thread that works great. You could also probably pull a thread apart and use a little thread to serve it.

I've made a couple with it, and it's pretty stretchy. Some is nylon, and some is polyester. The polyester isn't as stretchy. B-50 dacron is cheaper, and a lot better.

Do a stretch break test on it and see how many #'s to break the artificial sinew--then use the right number of strands accordingly to be 4 times your draw weight ------example (50lb. bow needs 200# tensile strength string) allows a margin of error---per TBB.

..................Most artificial sinew is nylon. After ya make a string hang it full length over a nail and tie a 20 lb weight er so on it. Let it stay fer a coupla days and keep tightening it up so the weight stays suspended . This way ya take most ifn not all the stretch outtta it. Dont let the string spin while it is stretchin'.........bob

It makes a very nice looking string when made just like a sinew string. Justin
