Snaky Osage Selfbow 82# @ 27"
« on: December 28, 2013, 08:13:59 am »
I hope u guys like  it's 67 inches ntn and pulls 82# at 27" the upper arm is 1 1/2 inches longer  unstrung the bow has no set.
the bow is really fast and has virtually no handshock, it's the first one where I was able to reduce the handshock to such a Point on a drawweight like that, I think the half pyramidal desing ( the first 10 " are parallel, the ofset handle plus the slim tips do great work.
I build this bow out of a stave my wife gave me for Christmas two weeks earlier.
the handle is made out of pearlray, the tips and the arrowrest are made out of camelbone, the stringsilencers are made out of ferritfur.
I'm  totaly new to this Forum, but i've been looking at the work of u guys for a Long time, it's always a big Inspiration! especially for me in Germany where Bowhunting is still illegal, I'd love to put that fella to the test.....
I hope You like my bow ,
greetings from Germany,
Johannes

I gave it my best now to post some pics and a new full draw pic, hope u guys like it  :D
the top limb is 1 1/2 inches longer that's why it seem to bend less, but on a scale it bends even a Little more.

Looks nice. Must be a heck of a piece of osage to get that weight, just doesn't look like enough wood left over to get it. But hey, your pulling it, not me! Nice work on a gnarly one.

Your a super strong individual to be able to draw 82# with your arm bent like that!!!  Nice work on that asymmetrical bow, and yes tiller changes for me off the tree. After brace I use self timer mostly.

i got the Wood earlier than Christmas ! 14 days earlier, just in case anybody thinks i've finished it in 3 days, but it was done for chritmas! ....  ;D my arm is bend like that because my wife needed so Long to take that Picture and i got tired, (maybe 3 seconds)  :)  anyway, i hope you all like it, i love it and it really packs a Punch ! (don't know if u guys can see it but the arrow is sticking ou on the other side of the stump!)

I like it.........lots of bumps and wiggles...
Boy that camel bone sure looks hard and dense, almost looks like ivory.

camelbone is real tuff, i needed a rasp for iron to shape it and it still took half an hour per nock just to shape it in form :)

Ya, them nocks are sweet.
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

Lot of character in that stave, a real challenge there.  I like the camel bone overlays, great job getting them polished so well.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Awesome work.  You got a lot of draw weight out of that tricky stave.
