Pat; I've talked to Steve about our mulberry. It seems to resemble osage a lot more then the red mulberry that grows up north. I've had people try to give or trade me some from up y'alls way and I don't want it. It seems a light less dense then what grows down here and this is almost as yellow as osage.

Eddie, that's probably Chinese (white) mulberry. I haven't had any problems with our red mulberry, either-I love it, made everything from flatbows to a stacked ELB from it. One of my favorite woods. It's not as dense as osage, but it's tough as nails, and it grows straight without all the pin knots. You can usually chase a ring on a stave in a few minutes.

Yep, white-turning reddish fruit that's smaller than the native mulberry fruits. A white mulberry tree looks just like an osage without thorns until you look at the leaves. Bark and all looks pretty much the same.

Dang, you always seem to be at the right place at the right time! Nice! Hmmm been growing on reclaimed soil from the phosphate mines..... Does it glow in the dark?

Man, how long are you going to let cure? I would like buy a stave from you. It looks like it might have some twisty turns in it. I have one in my back yard, but not that big. It is only about five or six inches in diameter. Bugs got the leaves, but it will come back. Yep a very hard, and hardy tree. I have cut some limbs from it while pruning it.
