Definatly good job and keep it going! It will all work out with some dedication! As mentioned heat treating rock can be an art in itself. Slow and steady heat, also if you spall it up ahead of time can help too. Lastly cool down needs to be slow and steady too, I learned out the hard way< cold air hit some hot rocks and look out! Lost some nice spalls!
ps if your getting that texas rock from the guy in Mills county it's pretty tough stuff to learn on, try the Edwards rock from windmillhill its a little easier and knapps well without heat.
