Yea that's the reason why I just started making my own boards from raw wood. Don't get so fixated on boards full length of a bow though. I look for boards 36-40 inches that are twice as thick as I need for a core, and then rip the board in half thickness wise and splice them together with a z splice. Billets are actually better in that the limbs than have a mirrored grain pattern and thus behave the same way when tillering. Not to mention finding/making a good grained knot free board in shorter lengths is much easier.
