Anyone know where a guy from the rio grand valley (very south Texas) can find some starter staves for trade possibly even a place to order them online from somewhere close?

Look at our sponsor list,Mike Yancy is a good place, and several others or you may find someone that wants to trade here.  ;) :) No selling here but lots of folks have staves to trade. :) Good luck. :)

Echo Archery has a wide selection of staves for trade, sale (or give away if your lucky) :) Seriously, Carson will take care of you for sure.

Aethertoast, I've lived in the valley and there are lots of trees there that you can obtain staves from.  Hackberry, ashe juniper, and elm (except cedar elm) are all plentiful there, for example.

If you keep your eyes peeled and are constantly looking for staves, you can pick up free wood from public roadsides, trash piles of tree trimmings, and railroad clearing/cuttings.
