Pearly's finished bow static bend (tiller check)
« on: November 14, 2013, 11:38:46 am »
Lol I didn't know what to call it. Had a bow I shot a couple dozen arrows through. Called it pipe dream. Got to looking at it and it wasn't quite my dream. I've been in love with statics for sometime now. And I had to do it. I have to retikler a little and what not. But it looks more the part. One tip came off but I can just reglue. I'll get pix up when I get the chance.

Well here it is. Deflex static recurve. "Pipe dream" gotta Let her sit and then retiller. Never woulda tried if pearly didn't post that the other day.

My caul is ghetto. Lol. It was already shaped like that so I just rolled with it. Gotta love piles of wood everywhere.

That came out great, I like the staics with a bit of deflex in ther limbs, makes for a smooth shooter.

Nice. Let it sit for a day before you tiller it out. Give the hooks a chance to relax and settle in.

So now I need to like up the tip a little and finish sand. I didn't do much tillering. No scale so I dunno how heavy it is. But she's a beast. I'm gonna do both over lays over. The edge of the one that survived started to lift. I'm gonna put another accent wood in between the veg ivory and bow. Purple Heart or walnut, along those lines. Let me know what u think of my tiller. The one limb out of the fade has a dip. So that the uneven bending part ( left side)

Also not quite at full draw in the pic. I try not to pull them all the way. About an inch off

Forgot the I braced pic. Also not at full brace in the pic. Holding the same deflex it has had. Expecting a little follow. Not too shabby for my third bow and two sticks stuck in a pipe. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks again everyone

The right side is quite stiff half way.

Why narrow it? That could take a lot of material as compared to removing belly wood. Your call man.

Deffinetly the belly, I held that thing man, you got her narrow for the wicked draw weight! I wanna shoot it for sure
