Salt Cedar

I think I have found some salt cedar, it's new growth next to the reserve pit. It's about 5' tall and straight as an arrow  ;D.
Would this be worth using or should it be a shoot growing from an old stump?

I have used salt cedar for arrows but it was given to me. It makes very good, heavy arrows. Give it a try.

Salt cedar will crack/check easily while drying if you take the bark off too early. I does make a good heavy shaft like Pat said. A friend of mine finds them in thick  stands in southern Utah that grow really straight. Out here it does't grow as well but I can still collect shoots that will work for shafts. Good luck!
