I used to catch MONSTERS like that in N. Illinois near the Wisconsin border.  I lived on a lake that was loaded with 'em.  They were flat suckers in the spring for a little gold bead head nymph on a fly rod.  Before the days of a camera phone...ugh.

Great fish.

Thanks all for the comments ....................
These days (my older years) I do all my hunting the morning and then fishing in the afternoon....makes a good combo for weekend.
Fish fry at Moontree? .................  ??? :-\ :-\ ;)

Oh by the way my wife said it was gooood eat'n.  I didn't get a bite of that one.  I lost 5 jigs in the tree he was in and didn't catch another big one ....just 8 more about 11" long.
And yep they were good.
Till next time...
