What is Hill Cane and where does it grow?
I have some Tonkin, so I know what that is and I think I know what River Cane is.
I am in Texas, wondering if it grows here.

Hill cane is one of the three native canes in the US and only grows in the southern Appalachian Mtns.

It makes a fine hunting arrow. It has a thick wall and the nodes are closer together. It is my favorite type of cane for making hunting arrows. I think my arrows were around 600 grains this year. I try to work up a deal with Old Hippy and Pat at the Classic for some shafts each year. They usually keep a bundle stashed in their beards for just such an occasion.

Hill Cane(Arundaneria appalaciana) is one of three native canes in the US like Hippy said. The other two are river cane(A. gigantia) and switch cane(A. tecta). Hill cane is more similar to switch cane than river cane but hill cane is the only one that is deciduous, loosing its leaves during the winter. Hill cane grows only in the Southern Appalacian Mountains....along my driveway and creek.
