Nice Osage log

A nice farmer gave me permission to cut an Osage tree in his cow pasture. Nice score. 14" log with great rings and ratio.

It is still in the upper 70s at 4000' elevation here in California. So you would be really sweating!

Awesome. Some of the biggest rings I've seen on Osage and very clean and straight too.

I havent mastered the shorty bows yet.  I'm still a rookie.  But, you are right and by the time this wood seasons, I will be ready to try it, I'm sure.

Nice wood Greg. Give it through the winter and you can probably get after some. Its dry enough in the winter that the moisture leaves real fast.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

I plan on getting it all down to a ring and sealing the backs.  I will undoubtedly rough some out to quick dry over the winter.  I want to let some of it season for a couple of years or more if possible to try some slow dried 'sage.  I was excited to see the rings when it fell and to see it split straight when I layed the wedges and maul to it. :)
