I'm in Toronto and the best place to buy is at Exotic Woods Burlington.
There is a good place in Cambridge as well but that's a bit more of a drive.
I have some extra Ipe that I would part with.

By far the best place in Southern Ontario for exotics is A&M Woods in Cambridge.  I haven't been there in several years but the last time I was there their selection of imported species was such that a person could spend 2 or 3 days there.  There is also a place in TO but I've never been and from what I have heard they don't have much, possibly nothing for a bowyer.  There is also another place North of TO in Paulgrave, I think, called Century Mill.  I've been there and they're not bad but they don't compare to A&M

Yeah, those are the two that I've found as well. I'm a Toronto guy too.  The one in cambridge actually sells longbow staves. Elm, black locust and hickory. 45 apiece. I've been meaning to go.  Us Ontarians should meet up at the science center range sometime, have our own Ontario trad bow meet. :)

Is there a Windsor Plywood in Ontario? They have excellent white wood lumber here.

Count on only the black locust being useable. The elm and Hickory are prime staves that look like they came from lumber left outside. Filled with mildew or borers.

Windsor is where I buy my wood from, I pay $1.90 a foot for 1x3 and $1.50 a ft. for 1x2.  Last time I went thru 20 pieces before I found one with good grain. It all depends on what they ship.

Windsor Plywood is pretty far for me as well but years ago they had a listing for Greenheart (Ocotea rodiaei) and I was sorely tempted to take a ride to get some.
