Like it. Very cool. Hickory with rough back. The stain work is excellent. The back of the bow has lovely character. I've only made hickory board bows.

Bowman...Hick boards are good.Made a few with bamboo backing that made really nice bows using an R/D design & I think a couple of perry reflexed too.Fresh cut & debarked staves of this hickory will give you this kind of back.
Tim Potter....Thanks,just so the deer think so too.....LOL.
blackhawk....Yea I know, but it's my favorite saddle blanket flannel shirt.I just put my leafy hooded jacket over it and go.In fact more than that shirt under it now it's getting in the low 30s' in the mornings here.

Real nice Beadman. I like that one a lot, looks great and I'd guess it spits an arrow well to boot. The grainy looking back is something I've always dug, had a couple black walnut bows I made with the same look. You finished yours
off very well and kinda wish I hadn't given those two walnut bows away, now I miss em' after seeing these pics. :)
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Greg....Yes I remember you, your brother and his wife at Mo Jam.That was fun.Glad you spoke up here.Your a bit too kind with your compliments. There's a lot out there to learn yet but it's fun trying most times.....LOL.Are you pulling any shavings?
BB...Just make yourself another one.Whenever I give one away I eventually try to make another only better the next time.I like the backs on them bows too.It always kinda looks like to me they were just plucked right out of the tree.In a way they were.....LOL.

Great looking bow, super nice back and the handle is just right for it.

Nice!!  Bend is great. Colors are nice.  I love the "muscle" on the back.  Most of my hickory has that characteristic and I think it adds a lot of character to the bow. Especially when you finish it out so it highlighted like you have.  Well done.
+1 great looker.

Thanks pappy.Seen the snake bows you've put out too.Sweet.Seems like it's almost as hard to find those nice snakey osage staves as it is a straight piece.

Thanks fellas.I appreciate it.As you've probably heard me say on here before I try to get the most out of the wood I'm working on and yet have it be durable. That's just me.Here's another reason why.
I shoot at these 3D shoots 6 - 8 times a year with a group of fellas that mostly carry FG bows and one carrys a compound too yet.We have fun joshing on the hits as well as the misses. Some have made self bows but when it comes time to go hunting they grab the FG bow. They have given up on joshing me about distance, speed, and accuracy of my self bows. They know better. To me they are quitters. They've never heard me say to them..... Ohhh that's not fair.I won't give them the satisfaction.I think I can learn more about the making bows using natural materials then they can taking the easier route of man made materials.
