A chance meeting at the archery range

I bumped into a bowyer by the name of Gerald Welch of Welchman Longbow at the archery range today. He's from Alaska but was here in Portland visiting family. It was pretty neat to talk to him in passing. He checked out my bows and wanted to see them shoot. He didn't say they suck so that was good at least.
He told me about cutting vine maple back in the day with John Strunk. I wish he wasn't leaving when I was arriving, it would have been fun to pick his brain.
