Juniper question
« on: October 14, 2013, 01:10:17 am »
Had a bit of a tree ID question I guess; Does anyone know if the Juniper in Northern Nevada is worth attempting to make a bow out of?

Any clues on what profiles and designs work best for Juniper? I'm kind of thinking a flat bow with a bend in the handle and a linen backing but not quite sure what I should attempt. It's going to be a pain finding a juniper that doesn't spiral and isn't knobby and snakey where I'm at but I figured since I'm having crap luck with every other wood I might as well try it!

I think juniper performs best as a short sinew backed bow.

Marc StLouis made a warbow out of a long piece of ERC.
