Guys! I have this really really nice 3" log perfectly straight and clean. then i took my machetti and split it, it has a full quarter turn propeller , is there a way to get the propeller out? Steaming maybe? Is it firewood now?

i had the same problem with some black walnut, i thinned one out and steamed it for about a half hour, then used dry heat where i needed a little extra back twist, with about an hours worth of work i had a straight blank. you may wish to remember which way it was twisted and take a little more wood off the opposite side so it doesnt want to twist back when you tiller it, go slow and it should work out.

Get the bow to floor tiller or a little past it.Then worry about steaming it out.

What Eddie said, no point in bending a lot of wood you are going to shave off anyway. Justin

I've worked with a 45 deg twist but 90 deg is tough. Floor tiller then try to twist it out. You could use a wrench. Honestly, I haven't had much success i removing prop twists. You might find less of a twist once you get the stave to near bow dimensions. Jawge
