I've made good progress on my project. Having trouble with pics but will post them before or when I send it.
Put a finish on the atlatl and it seemed too slick to hold so I put a leather handle cover with sinew end wraps and sinew lacing.
Built four darts and decided they needed foreshafts to be more versitle. That was pretty tough. Never done foreshafts before but they are working real well.
I made four with hardwood target/feild points that have a small stainless rod in the middle for a sturdier tip. Then made four hrdwood shaft blunts capped with 22-250 rifle brass and a stainless screw in through the primer hole. I cut the cases off right at the shoulder to fit over the shaft.
I have one so far with a San Patrice St. Johns type stone point and plan to mount at least one more stone point on a foreshaft. depends on time.
I wrapped the front end of the darts with sinew and wrapped the turkey wing fletching with a small nylon string then sealed all the sinew and end wraps on fletching with super glue.
All I lack is a little writting and a leather lace hanging loop on the atlatl, and I have an idea for a wall mounted rack to hang the darts and atlatl, with holes across the top to hold all the foreshafts.
I will have her done in the next couple days and in the mail by Friday.
Happy new year! Terry
