howdy Primitive Archers
« on: September 22, 2013, 04:53:35 pm »
Hello from CT.  New to the forum.  been a member for about a year on leatherwall and tradgang, but as my interest goes more and more primitive i find myself linked to build-alongs and discussions here more and more, so i figure i might as well join ya.  I already know several of you from the other forums, but im excited to get some new opinions and points of view.... and of course see more bowyers' work.  So anyway here is a quick run-down of me and my experience level:  I hunted with a compound for three years, got a few deer, and at the end of last season i bought a recurve and had so much fun i sold the wheels and bought a longbow.  then with the help of the guys from the gang i built my first bow, a bamboo backed ipe that was awesome for a couple thousand shots until i accidentally dry fired it due to a busted nock.  now the boo is toast.   once that happened i picked up an osage stave and fell in love with yella wood.  just finished my second osage bow a couple weeks ago, and although it came out lighter than i wanted, its still huntable, and im using it to go after my first deer with a real bow.    hoping to score a stack of staves in a couple weeks,  and to make alot of bows after deer season.  now lets see if i can figure out how to post pictures of my bows, so you guys can see what kind of novice youre dealing with here  ::) ;D

ill try this one first

Sounds like you are well on your way to being hopelessly addicted to primtive archery ...welcome! >:D

Hey Eric... it's Jeff. Good to see you decided to join us.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer
