Rabbit Hunt

A rabbit bolted from the knee deep grass in front of me, and stopped six yards away... I had been hunting for three hours and was walking back home. I could barely make out it's body as it sat motionless. I raised my bow and slowly began to draw. When I hit my anchor, I felt calm. Hundreds of practice shots have prepared me for this moment. My fingers relaxed, and my arrow went right where I was looking. The rabbit jumped, and ran away. I could still see him when he stopped. This is the third Rabbit I've killed with my first bow. ;D

Nice job! What kind of tip did you use. I hit one with a judo point and it ran off with my arrow and never found the rabbit or my arrow. I even sent my bird dog to find him. No luck. :(

I used field points, the first rabbit I shot ran about ten yards, but the second rabbit was facing away from me. When he ran off my arrow came out and I found him two days later (unfit to eat)  :( this rabbit only went about ten yards, but I think I've been lucky with my shot placement so far. The places I've been hunting are pretty thick, and they get tangled up if my arrow stays in. I've never used judo's but I was wondering if they worked.

I am not impressed with judo's. Those G5 small game heads look wicked I have one I am planning on using with cedar arrows and a screw in adapter.

Judos make a nasty big hole..destroys the pelt..rather use a field point or a bone point on the small side.  Nice shot by the way.

I use four trim nails and sinew them like tick tack toe on the tips and it rocks the small game they are stunned and do not run at all they flop around and i run over and wack em with my rabbit stick and its over . You should try these tips out . Also you can use small twigs about an inch and a half by one eighth of an inch in place of the finish nails .

Bill, I know where you can find a rabbit or 20.  Heck you might not even have to leave the yard. But, it's a lot more fun stalking them through the maze of trails I have mowed around the farm.
