Hey, I really like that! Never been into making metal knives but now I'm wondering since it looks easier than I thought it would be.

finally got it finished. i could of done with some finer grit wet and dry to get the blade more polished but its gona get knocked around abit anyway so i just left it as it is. im pretty pleased for my first go. im gona start another pretty soon.

Danny
forgive my French but that one hell of a first effort.
keep us infirmed about your opinions on edge holding ability and ease of sharpening.
looking forward to seeing future knives from you.

cheers kevin. yeh will let you know how it holds up. the knife is sharp but i cant seem to get it shaving sharp, i think this may be my inexperience with sharpening knives.  i have already started another now but this time i put it in the wood burner for a while to soften it and it really helped, i will post pics when its done.  :)

danny
if you got it real hot 450f + for any length of time the temper may be gone  i.e  the steel is soft and will not hold an edge.
you will probably end up rehardening and tempering the blade.

Hey that's pretty neat, I actually made a knife out of a rasp exactly like the one you used about a year and a half ago.  It was also my first attempt at knife making.  I will see if I can get some pictures of it up later tonight and post them here if you don't mind.

Cool! I made one of these for a KITH a couple years ago. More Bowie style though. I like that style you made. dp
