Pin knots in osage?

I have a nice osage stave I traded for and it has a lot of pin knots I'm noticing while chasing the grain. How much do the affect my layout? Ill post pics.

That is a fairly clear stave for Osage.  Leave the knots raised and you will have a good safe bow.

Dont even worry about those tiny little knots they won't effect anything at all just don't flatten them out while chasing your ring

Are they safe to bend a little?

Yes, they'll be fine, let the bow bend like they weren't even there. The most important thing is to keep them away from the edges/sides of the limbs. If you cannot layout the bow so that they are in from the edge of the bow at least 1/4", then leave a little swell of good wood around them.

Watch the tear out on the back side of the knots when chasing a ring.  Looks like you have a little tear out below that one knot.  Chase a ring around them carefully and they shouldn't be a problem.

A half pair of scissors works great around pin knots can get a lot of control removal.

It looks to me like you flattened a few of the pins while chasing the back ring. I'd suggest you go down one more ring but leave a small island around each pin. Once you have a clean back ring remove the island by lightly scraping from the peak of the pin down, around all sides of it. Also I always add a drop of super glue on each pin and knot on the back of a bow just for a little insurance.

I wanna sinew the back if I get it far enough along. This is my second selfbow. Some of the knots are flat. But still in the same ring. Does that matter?

The pins with the dark spots in the center have been violated it looks to me.

If you're going to sinew back it, you have nothing to worry about.
