Adding a handle

If I found a stave that I could split into two good staves but there wouldn't be any wood for a handle, is it advisable to glue a handle on after?

Normally when you split a stave there is more than enough material left for shaping, tillering, etc.  There just has to be, you will wittle away most of it to get down to the floor tillering stage.  Having said that layout the bow so you have 4-6 inches thick in the middle section for a handle later on to shape.

You can, wood handles could be tricky, but simply building up an handle with leather or something would be relatively simple
