J.J. Cale died a day or so before my trade bow also died. He wrote a lot of great songs, particularly those made famous by Eric Clapton.
So there I was in bed, unable to sleep, sure as all get-out I would miss the deadline. I know how slow I am making bows these days and how busy the following 10 days would be. I could not sleep, so I got up and wandered into the garage. I turned on the oldies station and found a scrap of osage. I heard Eric Clapton doing "After Midnight" almost right away and I let'er all hang out.
Around 10:00 the next morning I had her tillered almost to full draw. Over the next few days I got horn nocks installed, finished tiller, laid up finish and put her to rest while I made a 4 day road trip to North Dakota for a couple of programs for the Black HIlls Raptor Center along with a side trip to participate in the 60th anniversary party for my parents.
She's finished and in a piece of pvc pipe ready to ship.
Decided to do a handle wrap to match the black tips. And since last week was the Sturgis Motorhome Rally and Trailor Races, I decided to fancy up things on the grip with some black leather fringe.
