Third Archer Sculpture
« on: August 14, 2013, 05:54:18 am »
I've done an archer with a warbow shooting clout or flight, it was commissioned by a lady in the UK.
He's made from some old big bore thick wall copper pipe, but I bought some 5mm rod to make the drawn bow.
It's not mounted on a base yet.
Full build along on the blog of course.
I did submit the middle one to the Royal Academy of Art summer exhibition but he wasn't accepted...
I s'pose you have to shoot and make bows to really 'get' it. The hand and bow positions all line up correctly and you can see the different shooting style between a primitive and a warbow.

Awesome!  These should be like the 'Oscars' statues, the coveted academy awards for excellent performance in cinema.  We could call them 'Archies' and establish a primitive archery academy to award them for expert bowyering.  I wonder if 'the academy' could get a deal on having them mass produced since we know the artist!   :D ;D

Ha! Yes, these are very nice work!

the part that has too little is increased."

Nice work Dell.  I really like those.  There must have been some pretty fierce entries if that guy wasn't accepted.   :o

The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso
