Red elm flatbow (pic heavy)
« on: August 14, 2013, 03:38:41 pm »
Hello,

Posting another bow I recently finished for my father-in-law.  It is a self bow made of red elm and measures 58" ntn.  The limbs are 2" wide along 2/3 of their length.  She comes in at ~33# @ 25 inches or so.  Did my best to paint some nice patterns on the back.  Also left a tiny bit of the spring wood above the chased ring for a slight "camo" effect (not sure the pictures capture this).  Glued on a bit of black walnut to the belly side of the handle for extra niceness.  Each limb took on about 1/2" to 1" of set.

Cool little paddle.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
