Another Point ID
« on: August 11, 2013, 11:06:13 am »
I found this one in Bisbee Arizona near the old rifle range south of town. Pretty funny story actually, I was hiking around and nature was calling it was #2  :o needless to say the moment I found it was when I was squatting behind an old Creosote bush. I Looked down and almost forgot to pull my pants up before jumping around all happy !

I have never seen anything like it just curious what you guys might be able to tell me about it.

If that were in the southeast or the Mississippi River area, I would say that it was a Gary, a mid to late Archaic point.  However, that is WAAAAY out side the range of that type of point, so all I can say is great find.

In Central Texas I'd call it a Wells.

Looks like a very nice Santa Cruz to me. 1400-600 years old.  it's possible that it could be a drill to make a tapered hole for something like a water jug... but I'm going with a Santa Cruz....final answer
