Alaskan Archery Equipment PIC HEAVY!

Got back from a two week trip to Alaska a few weeks ago, and have been meaning to post these pictures of some of their archery equipment. Very interesting stuff. Especially the thick sinew cable backing, and the wrist guards built into some of the bows. I was lucky since the museum I went to in anchorage had a special exhibit of Inuit hunting equipment set up. Enjoy!

I would like to try one of those type bows sometime. I am not real interested in twisting up all that sinew though. Thanks for posting those pics Jon.

Cool!  That fourth pic from the bottom sure looks like a stout arrow!  Might have to make myself a blunt like that.

Its when you see stuff like this you truly understand what  a wonderful thing the human brain is!
It makes you wonder how it happend the first time.

Was it "Full draw with a spankin new bow" and disappointment followed by...hmmm what if i do this? Or something else?
