Quick-o Elm Longbow

This is an Elm d-bow I made from an elm tree I cut down last week. I really wanted to try some of that elm, so I roughed it out  and then dried it in my hot box before final tillering. It is heat treated and stands 67" tip to tip and 34# at 28". Shoots really nicely for a low poundage bow and after a day unstrung it practically stands straight. It's tricky to shoot because its so crooked. Oddly, some fretts appeared near the handle on the lower limb and Im not sure why, since I never had any major hinges or anything???

Nice bow, I built one almost identical to that one out of hickory just yesterday. I like simplicity of the design, and how easy they are to make. Great job!

Really like that hickory bow you built, and yes these d-bows are very easy to make aren't they.
