Easy enough to motorise it and it was obviously made when tools were tools.

Haha, true! Man, I would hate to be the guy doing the cranking on it while some guy was trying to resaw a 10" piece of rosewood or something... That's insane.

I would bet that monster cuts pretty good when you get those big heavy cast iron wheel spinning it would have quite a bit of torque. You can tell by the blade guide that it will accommodate a pretty large timber. This was made back in the days when craftsman had apprentices and I bet it wore out a bunch of them.

I was there doing some Tudor re-enactment... trying to do 2 days work in two hours tillering a longbow whilst not wearing my glasses >:(
