Chanterelles and Garlic
« on: July 19, 2013, 08:01:54 pm »
Found two and a half plastic grocery bags of chanterelles the other day. Put four large freezer bags and four quart freezer bags in the freezer and ate mushrooms for two days.  A little rain would bring them up again, but if not soon the season is nearly over here.

Cooper and I picked are garlic the other day too. I cut the roots and he cleaned the heads.  Some of the best garlic we've grown. Looks like Coops's chiggers are actin up.  :o ;D ;D ;)

HAve a gooder, thanks for lookin, dpgratz

Add butter and white wine....the steaks will be the side dish!

Mind altering ones ::) psylicibin, the only edibles I've ever dared to eat were some dwarf Chanterelles. I didn't even know they grew here. I took about ten pictures of and sent them to Steve Parker, and he said,,"maybe"??, I cooked and ate half a baggie full and didn't fall over so I guess they were good.

Stay out of the cow pasture Eddie! ::)  I hope your Son washed his hands. ::) :P  Well at least his right hand. ...... ::)  Chiggers! >:(  Nasty little spiders! :o
Those beet tops are great tasting also.  Never had Chanterelles .  Afraid to eat mushroom in the wild.  Don't know enough about them to take a chance.  I thought I could pick out Morels, but then found out there is a false Morel.   :( :P  I guess I will just have to stick to store bought ones. :(

Nice looking bunch of chanterelles. It's a good mushroom year here with all the rain. I've found chanterelles here until early October-summer shroom season is just getting cranked up here.

Eddie-we picked a big ol mess of chanterelles down at Chris's a couple weekends ago-they were everywhere, probably the most chanterelles I've ever seen anywhere at one time. Unfortunately, most of them were a few days past picking, but we managed to get a humongous mess of them to cook for supper.  Chris is the mad chanterelle picker now since he learned how to ID them. :D

Were they in pine needles? That's where I found the little ones down here in the swamp.

Naw, the big chanterelles are usually micorrhyzal with oak trees.
