Big Ol' Geode!
« on: July 19, 2013, 08:44:04 pm »
My wife and I were having a few drinks and taking awalk in the creek the other night. I found this baby and bein the rock hound that I am, couldn't help but go back yesterday and get it.  It was hot as blazes, but with a candy persuasion  >:D I talked my 6 yr old to go with me.  I tied it to the old pack frame and hauled it out.  About a forty minute walk.  Ended up weighing in at 55 pounds.  Thanks for lookin, dpg

Yes, I'm thinking of cutting it rather than smashing it.

That is really interesting. I did not know what a Geode was, so Googled it! We have a similar thing around here known as Thunder Egg's. I look forward to seeing it cut open and what's inside

If you go it out of the water you might be alright. I know the ones I got out of the water did'nt freeze, thaw freeze thaw for 100.1000's of years. All the ones not protected by water or buryed below the freeze line has done this. These ones are uselly all fractered up but those water bound ones ar'nt and you get those nice big smooth peices.
I'd carryed that one home also.

Yes Sir,

Definitely cut it, if you have the ability to do so.
I've seen some Beautiful pieces that were Cut.
With the cut ends all polished up.
