my papaw once had told me about people in his time brewing beer from honey locust pods has any one else heard of this

being in the pea family i thought locust pods were poisonous. ive eaten black locust flowers before but really thought the rest was supposed to kill ya

Jamie,Honey Locust and Black Locust are 2 different trees. The Honey Locust pods are large(6" to 12" long) and are sweet to the taste. Deer love them. As sweet as the pods ar, they probably have lots of sugar which would ferment readily. Pat

I've heard of the old timers around here making beer from honey locust pods and persimmons, alternating layers of each to fill up a churn crock and then letting it ferment. Sounds pretty nasty to me
