Have you ever...

... worked on a bow that you plan to give someone. Then when you take that first full draw test shot you find yourself rationalizing about giving them the next one you make :P

I have been working on a red elm flat bow for my father in law and just got it fully tillered last night.  Now I will start doing the detail work (handle, finish, paint, etc).  Will post some pictures soon.

Every time. My bows are never good enough in my eyes.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

I know i know  :(  i need to make one. I did give him a wall hanger, the black locust that got compression fractures cuz it was too narrow for its weight. That should hold him off for awhile.

I do that every time. I mean every single time, I have just got numb to it I guess, haha. What hurts even more is making a bow for yourself, taking the time with the perfect stave, making an absolutely phenomenal bow, and then getting rid of it anyway,  ;D. I mean it hurts, but also feels good at the same time, :).
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

- Tao Te Ching, 77, A new translation by Victor H. Mair
