Dulling of points

I have noticed the points that I have made with intentions of hunting with; if I show them to someone and they or myself handle them after a few times of this they feel much duller than what they started as. Is this normal?

I have noticed that too, however I think a lot of it is mental
the nerves onn my finger tips are not very sensitive anymore so I test them for sharpness on the back of my thumb. if they knick me or hang up real easy then they are sharp enough
