butt pad??

Anybody ever made a leather one for a rifle, i figure if we can talk boats, we can make butt pads....lol

Haven't built the whole pad outta leather. Used veg tan for a spacer just to adjust the length of pull.. I would think the leather would dry out and be as hard as a rock.. If all you are after is to protect the butt of the rifle coupla lalyers of leather glued together then grind to fit.. Note duct tape is your freind..

More for protection of my shoulder than the rifle , its an old .270 and only has that superhard rubber butt plate, been a coupla days since sighting in and still sore. What can i say, my shoulder is a baby.....lol

I had to make a rubber cheek pad for my 3 1/2 mag shotgun to keep from cutting my cheek. Does that count?

saddle soap will keep leather softer than a babys butt.it won't crack either.good luck and post pics.

I brokedown and was impatient "bought" a Pachmayr 'Decelerator' its gonna wrk till i figure out exactly how im gonna build one with the time i have. Thanks yall.
