45# rawhide backed hickory board bow

This is my first bow. I actually built it a few years ago for my dad. It was heavy around 65# and my dad has shoulder problems so I tillered it down to #45 so he could shoot it again. I took the opportunity to refinish it as well. This bow has re-energized me and re-inspired me to make more time for bow making. You know how things are. You get busy, life takes over and you forget about things you love doing. Anyway, I hope you guys like it. Any comments are welcome and if anyone is in the Prescott, AZ area I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks Joe, I appreciate the positive feedback. It shoots quieter and more accurate than my #50 Martin glass longbow.

Good first bow but can you see that the limbs are really only bending at midlimb? Try to spread the load a little more on the next one.

Yeah I definitely noticed it. I was actually pretty upset about it, but I got to the point of not being able to do much about it without dropping the draw weight to much. Overall though I'm pretty satisfied with it. At least it's accurate and smooth.

I really like the tips on that bow, very cool looking, are they whitetail?

Yeah Young. It is whitetail antler from the first deer I shot. A little bit of nostalgia for my pops.
