Some board bows never quit looking like a board.  Not here.  One of the sweetest looking board bows I've seen.  Spot on tiller, cool curves and colors.  Nice work.

Haha...thanks for all the ribbing guys...

Bob it looks like they are just slightly bending...perfect ;)

Guess youll just have to wait n see bowman53  ::)

Well danzn bar...I can't cut off these tips and send em to ya... ;D ...do you remember seeing my bows at Dave's and the classic? With overlays you can go real narrow...most my lever bows are at least 3/4 wide at the end of the fade, and a half inch wide(I use digital caliper)6" from the nocks, and anywhere from .250"-290" wide at the string groove...even with flat bow style tips you can still make the tips as narrow as I do at the string groove ...which will also force you to narrow the last ~8" to make a smooth transition, and where you really want to remove dead material there...you really dont need a lot out there where it doesn't bend much, even in a normal style bow

And thanks for all the serious comments everybody ;)

Black hawk,
Nice work as usual. Like the color combo.
If ya don't mind what is the width and thickness of the tips? Scary small but I bet it really chucks an arrow.
Thanks,
Greg

It still looks like a board.   But a beautiful board it is.
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso

Well done Chris. I know how much of a sacrifice it was for you to build a , dare I say, red oak board bow. I hope the overlays are enough to appease the osage gods.  ???
Being that you wouldn't dare use this bow as your trade bow I will volenteer to keep your secret safe and your reputation sound. You've got my address.  ;D

Thats a sweet looking bow Chris. How long does it take you to crank out a board bow any quicker than a stave?

Despite the odds i knew when i read the "molly curve" part in the subject that somehow it had to be Blackhawk :o, board or not!  The pig flying past my window couldn't distract me from that beautiful bender ya got there.  Ima hafta put a "molly curve" on my list of soon-to-make bows!  Well done sir 8)

Yikes, that's got to hurt to stoop so low  >:D   What is seen cannot be unseen! ha ha

Soon you'll be shaving tapered lams, and putting together a hot box (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Beautiful bow though.  You should send some shafts through a chrony and see how she does!

Way to liberate a "violated" piece of wood....you should get a medal for that bow:-)

You really are pushing the limits on this design....I appreciate your work alot!
